Nine Days and Counting

Our first year back in Macau is quickly coming to an end. It's been fun, crazy and busy for all of us. We are all looking forward to an extended holiday back in Canada. We depart July 2 for Toronto where we will spend two weeks with Jackie's family and attend the wedding of her niece. July 18 we travel to Edmonton where we will have three weeks for visiting family and friends. It's going to be a great summer!

Jackie's Birthday

June 21 was Jackie's Birthday. It was a quiet affair as the four of us went to a local Italian restaurant for dinner. we returned home after for a chocolate & fruit cake from Maxim's.

Athletic Awards Banquet

The school's Athletic Awards Banquet was held in early June to celebrate the year in athletics. Emily and Danielle both attended; both were members of the swim team and Emily also played on the Jr. Volleyball team. It was an extra-special night for Danielle as she received the Most Improved Athlete award for the swim team.

Summer's Almost Here!

OK, we are all getting excited about our trip to Canada this summer. We depart July 2 for Toronto, where we spend two weeks with Jackie's family. Things to do include: take part in a family wedding, visit the Niagara region to pick cherries and other fruit, and relax with family and friends. We arrive in Edmonton July 18, which gives us three weeks in the Edmonton area. Everyone is looking forward to visiting the cabin to relax, do some fishing and to swim. We are all excited about reconnecting with family and friends. There are also trips planned to doctors, optometrists and banks as well as special events such as Heritage Days. It's gong to be a great five weeks!

Shenzhen Day 2

Day two in Shenzhen was spent at Windows of the World. This theme/amusement park has recreated every important landmark and monument from every corner of the globe. Here you will find the Whitehouse, the Eiffel tower, Rome's Colosseum, the Great Pyramids of Egypt and even Niagara Falls (among others). The place also has many rides as well as an indoor skiing and skating area. Emily and Danielle took advantage and rode a tube down the ski hill and followed this up with a skating session on the large ice rink.

Trip to Shenzhen

The school year is winding down so we wanted to have one last weekend away before the summer holidays. We headed to Shenzhen, our favorite city in China. Saturday was spent shopping at Decathlon, our favorite sporting goods and clothing store. Saturday evening we had a special family dinner at Tairyo, a Japanese teppanyaki restaurant. For 168 RMB, one gets unlimited food and drink. We had prawns, squid, tuna, chicken, beef, fried rice and bacon wrapped asparagus. Dessert included fresh mango and Hagen Daz ice cream. When it was all over we rolled ourselves back to the hotel for a good nights sleep.
