Emily's Acting Debut

Students at TIS recently performed an adaptation of the "Wizard of Oz". Students from grade 2 to 11 took part in the play. Emily auditioned for a role and she ended up playing two roles. She was "Crow #2" (which was a speaking role) and a "Citizen of Oz". She worked very hard to remember her lines and quite enjoyed hanging out with some of the older kids at the school. She admitted to being nervous at the start, (there were 400 people in the audience) but she did a great job. Emily is already looking forward to next years production.

Shenzhen Day Three

Our last day in Shenzhen saw us travel to the Chinese Cultural Center. Much like the Windows of the World, the cultural center had displays and re-creations from all parts of China. As well, the large amount of green space there had many beautiful flowers and gardens to observe.

Fun and Games

Along with all of the interesting sights at the "Windows of the World", there were rides and amusement games to keep everyone entertained. There was the "bubble" and the "log ride" (got completely soaked), and skating and skiing in the Swiss Alps. Emily and Danielle took advantage of the snow and did some tobogganing; it was definitely the highlight of the trip.

Trip to Shenzhen

The first weekend of May was a long weekend for all of us so a group of nine staff headed to the city of Shenzhen for the weekend. Shenzhen is a very modern and beautiful city of approximately 11 million people. It is a one-hour ferry ride from Macau. Day one saw us get settled at our hotel and then do some shopping. Day two had all of us visit the "Windows of the World". This theme parks' main attractions are recreations of all the major buildings/structures of the world. Their was the Eiffel Tower, Great Pyramids of Egypt, Mount Rushmore, Niagara Falls ... just to name a few.

Summer Arrives in Macau

May 1st is the unofficial start to summer in Macau. This day is particularly important as all of the outdoor pools open this day. Emily and Danielle were some of the first to swim in the pool at our building.
